The Ariete 1313 coffee machine is dedicated to true lovers of espresso coffee. Thanks to its body made entirely from stainless steel, it is also a real jewel, a design item to display in your kitchen. The elegance of the details, the perfection of its operation and its extremely high performance level make this coffee machine indispensable when get up in the morning, providing you with a dense, aromatic and creamy coffee, better than one from a coffee shop.

Thanks to the integrated coffee grinder, you can grind your favourite blend of coffee beans in your own home, so you always have aromatic, delicious smelling freshly ground coffee. You can choose from among 11 grinding grade settings the one you like best, by simply turning the special knob which regulates the grind size of the coffee grounds. Experiment with the different grade settings to impart more or less flavour to your coffee and find the perfect balance between flavour, aroma and creaminess. This professional performance coffee machine also allows you to adjust the amount of ground coffee that goes into the (1 or 2 cup) filter and the right amount of water at the moment the espresso is dispensed. By checking the pressure gauge you will always be able to tell if the amount of water, quantity of coffee and grinding grade are in balance with each other in order to guarantee that you always get the best possible espresso. Once you have found the settings that are precisely to your taste, you can memorise the quantity of coffee grounds to be placed in the filter and the quantity of coffee dispensed, so you can always use the same settings and always obtain your preferred espresso. Finally, with the Maxi Cappuccino device you can easily froth milk to “stain” the espresso or prepare a creamy cappuccino for your fuller breakfasts, but it can also dispense hot water in just a few moments for tea, infusions and herbal teas. If you have little time but you can’t do without the pleasure of a good coffee, you can also use the Ariete 1313 coffee machine with ESE pods. You just have to use the special filter supplied for paper coffee pods and enjoy your hot, creamy espresso.

How do I clean my filter coffee machine properly?

Before first use we recommend rinsing the appliance twice with the maximum amount of water and without a coffee filter or coffee. Use the pot to fill the water tank with fresh water. This helps avoid overfilling the tank. The housing of your filter coffee machine and the cold hotplate can be wiped with a soft damp cloth. The glass pot, glass pot lid and filter insert on Melitta® filter coffee machines are dishwasher safe making them easy and convenient to clean (detailed information on each model can be found in the operating instructions enclosed).

The inside of my insulated pot is soiled/ discoloured, what can I do against this?

If this happens we recommend Melitta® Perfect Clean Accessories Cleaner. Its easily soluble formula with active oxygen cleans unpleasant coffee and tea deposits from standard insulated, stainless steel and glass pots. Please note that insulated pots are not dishwasher safe and should not be immersed in water when cleaning. To avoid damage to the glass flask do not use hard or sharp edged objects (e.g. cutlery, dishwashing brushes or similar) to clean.

Which parts of my filter coffee machine are dishwasher safe?

All glass pots, glass pot lids and filter inserts on Melitta® filter coffee machines are dishwasher safe (detailed information on each model can be found in the operating instructions enclosed).

How do I clean my stainless steel insulated coffee jug properly?

Please note that the insulated pots on our filter coffee machines are not dishwasher safe and should not be immersed in water when cleaning. Clean the outer surfaces of insulated pots with a soft, damp cloth. To remove stubborn stains we recommend Melitta® Perfect Clean Accessories Cleaner. When cleaning plastic insulated pots with glass flasks please also note that hard or sharp edged objects (e.g. cutlery, dishwashing brushes or similar) should not be used for cleaning in order to avoid damage to the glass flask.

Why should vinegar not be used to descale the coffee machine?

Household vinegar should not be used to descale coffee machines, since this often does not sufficiently remove limescale and fat deposits. It can also lead to a strong, unpleasant vinegar smell, which can affect the taste of your coffee and make it undrinkable. If products containing vinegar are repeatedly used to descale your coffee machine then this can damage the seals and make them brittle. Descaling agents based on mineral acids are also unsuitable as they can damage the pipes and tubes in your coffee machine. For gentle and thorough cleaning we recommend descalers based on lactic acid or citric acid. Regular descaling will extend your coffee machine’s service life. We recommend descaling using Melitta® Anti Calc Filter Café Machines. Some of our models have 3-in-1 limescale protection with programmable water hardness, a limescale indicator, and a practical descaling programme. This not only reminds you to descale your filter coffee machine, it also provides you with optimal support during the descaling process. This ensures that your filter coffee machine works perfectly. Please note that repairing damage caused by calcification is not covered by the guarantee.

How do I extend the service life of my machine?

Depending on local water hardness your coffee machine may become increasingly calcified over time. The limescale layer on the heating element prevents optimal heat transfer to the water and causes an increase in steam and noise during the brewing process. Very heavy limescale deposits can block the pipes and tubes in your coffee machine and significantly reduce its service life. Regular cleaning and descaling prevents this and extends the service life of your coffee machine.
